THROWBACK THURSDAY: 1969 WOODSTOCK MUSIC FESTIVAL EDITION
Since I love music festivals (and vintage fashion) so much, I decided to let pictures from the infamous Woodstock music festival of 1969 inspire me for this week’s Throwback Thursday.
Being the most historically noteworthy music festival of all time, Woodstock Music & Art Fair in White Lake New York, was held in August of 1969 and is widely regarded as a definitive moment in American pop culture. Attended by over 400,000 concert goers, 32 acts performed. Jimi Hendrix, Joni Mitchell and Janis Joplin, to name a few.
The fashion was liberating and expressive, the partying non-stop. Even Elizabeth Taylor was in attendance. Woodstock is comparable to what the Coachella music festival now is to a lot of us new-age concert lovers.
Art, style and life were celebrated to the point of legendary self-memorialization during those three days in 1969. Our new generation can’t even top a music festival that happened 44 years earlier. How can you not be inspired by that?
