I can’t remember the last time the entertainment industry had a popular female R&B trio. TLC hasn’t been the same since Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes passed away in 2002. Destiny’s Child hasn’t released an album since 2004. The girl-group OMG broke up in 2015. I previously teased Love Dollhouse, a promising R&B singing threesome backed by Russell Simmons, but they officially disbanded last year. I had pretty much given up hope that R&B would ever get another talented female group. Then a Star was born. At least it will be tomorrow, officially.

A new television show named Star is premiering on the Fox network December 14th. Star revolves around three talented young singers (played by Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny and Brittany O’Grady) who navigate the music business on their road to success. The show is produced by the creator of Empire, Lee Daniels. Before you assume the show is a spin-off or duplicate of the popular Fox television series about the hip-hop industry, think again. Star looks and feels entirely different. I suggest you watch the full-length trailer, below, and see for yourself.

Not only is R&B getting a new trio of talented females, but television is also getting an exciting new show about the good, bad, and ugly experiences women can endure when trying to advance in the music industry. Star will feature original music performed by Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny, Brittany O’Grady and others. Musical icons Queen Latifah and Lenny Kravitz will also be starring on the show.

RAMrants.com has featured Ryan Destiny on the site numerous times for her work in Love Dollhouse, modeling, AMC’s Low Winter Sun, the movie A Girl Like Grace, and Big Sean’s Paradise music video. Teen Vogue recently dubbed Destiny a star “you need to know,” and I couldn’t agree more. This young woman has accomplished so much since the world was first exposed to her in 2013, as a part of the singing trio Love Dollhouse. Ryan Destiny already knows about the highs and lows of the music industry. Now viewers at home will get the unique experience of watching her act it out for us each week. Star premieres Wednesday, December 14th at 9 PM on the Fox network.
