Okay. So Lindsay Lohan and the original gang may not be returning for a proper Mean Girls sequel, but a spin-off film starring Jennifer Aniston is currently in the works. Horrible Bosses 2 director Sean Anders will helm the project titled Mean Moms.

iMDb states that the film is about, “a happily married mother of two who moves from small town America to the high class suburbs and is faced with confronting the cut throat world of competitive parenting.” Sounds like a great spin-off concept with a lot of potential for solid comedy.

No word has come on whether Mean Girls writer and star Tina Fey or any of the other original cast members will have a hand in the production. A fan-made poster for the new film (above) recently originated on twitter, featuring Aniston as well as Sandra Bullock and Cameron Diaz, though other cast members from Mean Moms have yet to be announced.

Whether this film is Hollywood’s way of not necessarily giving the fans what they want, but a taste of something Mean Girls spirited period, I’m okay with that. There will probably never be a proper sequel to the Mean Girls franchise. True Mean Girls fans just act like that straight to DVD train-wreck named “Mean Girls 2” never happened.

Regardless, one can dream of the real thing.
