A lot of good hip-hop/R&B music has been dropping this week. Here are three of my choice favorite finds:
1. ‘One Night’ by Jasmine V. featuring Jeremih and Problem
Fresh off of the release of last year’s That’s Me Right There EP, Jasmine Villegas has another banger on her hands, this time featuring R&B crooner Jeremih and Compton rapper Problem.
Imploring her lover to stay “just one night” to “get it right,” this is easily one of Jasmine’s sexiest tracks yet, with a hook reminiscent of Sade‘s Kiss of Life. What’s not to love about that and Villegas in general?
2. ‘Disa My Ting’ by T-Pain
T-Pain switches up his sound from auto-tune to dancehall loon and it all strangely works, with Nappy Boy floating over the Kardinal Offishall assisted banger with a rapid word flow versus his traditional singing.
Whether this is just a one time offering or the influential sound of his upcoming mixtape – dropping March 27th – remains to be seen, but I like the artistic growth T-Pain‘s been showing and look forward to the new tunes.
3. ‘You Changed Me’ Jamie Foxx featuring Chris Brown
Jamie Foxx has a new album coming in May. It will be his first offering since 2010’s Best Night of My Life and will reportedly feature a lot of production from music’s current reigning hit maker DJ Mustard.
For the first official single from the untitled project, Foxx features Chris Brown for a thumping love proclamation about settling down. The track was produced by Boi-1da and Vinyl and is currently available on iTunes.
