With the impending release of a slew of hot titles for major gaming consoles, it’s a good time to be a Playstation 4 or X-Box One owner. Being partial to action-packed, thought provoking, horror orientated games, (my apologies to the faint of heart) here are five titles I’m excited to play throughout the course of 2015:
1. The Order 1886 (2/20)
Plot: The Order: 1886 is set in an alternate history London, where an old order of knights keep all of the world safe from half breed monsters, who are a combination of animal and man.
First, it’s a PlayStation 4 Exclusive. Second, what’s not to love about that interest concept? Or the awesome graphics exhibited in the game trailer, below.
2. Resident Evil Revelations 2 (2/24)
Plot: Resident Evil: Revelations 2 will be set between the events of Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6. Claire Redfield will be the main protagonist and Barry Burton’s daughter Moira will play a supporting role.
Capcom will release the game in early 2015 in an episodic form for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Being a huge fan of the Resident Evil franchise and the trailer for the new game, below, I’m extremely excited to be re-immersed in the world of Claire Redfield.
3. Life is Strange (Chapters 2-5) (Q1 2015)
Plot: The game’s plot focuses on Maxine Caulfield, a photography student who discovers that she has the ability to rewind time at any moment, leading her every choice to enact the butterfly effect. The game will consist of five episodes.
Having played through the PS4 version (Also available on PS3, X-Box 360 and X-Box One) of chapter one really excites me for the next installment, which won’t be here until some time in March. There’s a six week gap between each chapter release, so Life Is Strange will be continue to give new thrills and challenges all throughout 2015, as you can see in the trailer for the game, below.
4. Batman: Arkham Knight (6/2)
Plot: The game’s main storyline is set one year after the events of 2011’s Batman: Arkham City and follows Batman, at the peak of his ability, as he confronts the Scarecrow, who has returned to Gotham City to unite Batman’s enemies in a plot to finally kill the Dark Knight.
As a kid, I always loved Batman related gaming titles. I may not have played Arkham City but am excited to get catch up on this new era of Batman games. Available for PlayStation 4 and X-Box One, Arkham Knight stands to be a high quality hit. Just check out the exclusive trailer for the game, below, to see what I’m talking about.
5. Until Dawn (Summer 2015)
Plot: The game follows a group of 8 teenagers as they spend the night in a log cabin on the anniversary of the death of one of their friends, unaware that they are being hunted by a crazed serial killer.
Until Dawn happens to be the game I’m most excited about playing in 2015. No longer a PS3/Move title, the next-level horror offering will be a PlayStation 4 Exclusive. With a trailer, below – and gameplay preview, also below – that blew my mind, I can’t wait to know what all of Supermassive Games’s hard work went into.
6. Silent Hills (2016?)
Plot: Silent Hills centers on an unknown protagonist who awakens in a house and experiences supernatural occurrences.
If the new game from the Silent Hill franchise is as terrifying as it looks in the trailer from the Tokyo Games Show 2014, below, we’re going to need diapers. Thankfully, not until Halloween of next year. If Silent Hill fans can even wait that long…
Making it through the year in anticipation for your favorite games is going to be rough for the impatient, but a worthy wait for serious gamers, proving Playstation 4 and X-Box One have many more tricks up their sleeve.
