The winter solstice may not officially come until December 21st, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t cold outside. Whether you’re in the city or country, bundling up is important. It can also be made fun with stylish choices and bold accessories.
The following five pieces are ones I personally love to wear at home or in various life situations. They also happen to conveniently be located at your local Nordstrom store or on Nordstrom.com:
Scarves are the best for adding extra warmth to your outfit during those colder winter months. My personal favorite is the Burberry Giant Check Cashmere Scarf Classic Check in one size, above.
Burberry says, “Rich colors in a bold, giant-check pattern define a sumptuously soft cashmere scarf trimmed with long fringe.”
The sun isn’t solely reserved for summer. There are times when the sun comes out and reminds you of its existence, even if you can’t feel it’s heat through the winter frost. During those moments, you’ll need some shade for your face.
These Ray-Ban ‘Boyfriend’ 60mm Polarized Sunglasses Black in one size, above, are my absolute favorite choice for shielding my face from camera glare or blatant results of partying from the night before – during summer or winter.
Ray Ban says, “A streamlined silhouette adds everyday appeal to suave sunglasses outfitted with glare-reducing polarized lenses.”
Coats are a winter necessity The North Face – a personal favorite of mine – seems to tackle wonderfully with their down offerings like this ‘Tonnerro’ Technical Down Jacket, above. The coats feature a warm, puffy, hug-like feeling.
The North Face says, “Take on the cold in lightweight comfort with a technical full-zip jacket insulated with 700-fill-power down and featuring signature slim-down chambers that maintain warmth and hug the body for a glove-like fit.”
4. Formal Coats
A formal coat can dress up the business casual and accent the business dressed. My personal favorite formal coat to sport at the winery or in Manhattan is the Cole Haan Wool Blend Duffle Coat.
Cool Haan says, “A refined wool blend is shaped into a classic duffle coat with a removable hood. Traditional toggle closures authenticate the design.”
Sweaters are my absolute favorite type of top to wear during the winter season. A choice fabric being cashmere. Seemingly warmer and more comfortable like this John W. Nordstrom Half Zip Cashmere Sweater Black, pictured above in medium, is perfect for mix and match staple wear with added warmth.
John W. Nordstrom says, “Ribbed trim and a leather pull-tab complete the classic look of a half-zip sweater crafted from pure, hand-loomed goat cashmere sourced from the extreme climate of the Gobi desert.”
Winter accessories do tend to cost more, but timeless looks made of higher quality will stay in style, last longer and see many winters to come.
