Lisa D’Amato is an recording artist, fashion model and television personality who initially gained mainstream notoriety from her two appearances on the Tyra Banks fronted reality competition show America’s Next Top Model. Before Top Model, Lisa had already gained extensive modeling experience representing numerous brands and designers since the age of 12. After ANTM and her Cycle 17 win, Lisa graced the pages of various ads and high profile magazines like the April 2012 issue of Vogue Italia.
In 2007, Lisa actively pursued a career as a recording artist with her debut music video entitled Ace Of Spades. Lisa has since put out two albums, toured various cities and released a slew of singles and music videos as recent as early August, 2014. Comfortably Dumb, below, is the title of D’Amato’s latest single and documents a sonic evolution of the artist who originally started out rapping.
Lisa did not accomplish all that she has without her fair share of pitfalls. She has stated that she was a victim of child abuse and recently recovered from a severe accident in 2013 that almost left her disfigured. D’Amato is a proven survivor. It shows in her work, attitude, and positive disposition. A 2012 marriage to entrepreneur Adam Friedman eventually led to the 2013 birth of Lisa’s first child, a boy, Dax, who also makes a cameo in the clip for Comfortably Dumb, below.
I will never forget witnessing the effervescence that is D’Amato during her first run on America’s Next Top Model‘s 5th Cycle which debuted in 2005. She was wacky, high-spirited, unpredictable and captivating. The amazing thing about Lisa is that she still is. I instantly fell in love with her and have been following her career moves since. Not only inspiring but also empowering, Lisa D’Amato is constantly proving that she is not only a top model but a top-notch role model. That’s why I had to make her my “woman crush” this Wednesday.
