As part of the 2013 KOBE Biennale‘s challenge of creating environments inside industrial shipping containers for their ‘Art in a Container International Competition,’ Japanese designers Masakazu Shirane and Saya Miyazaki created an installation they dubbed “Wink Space” experimenting with zippers and window-like opening and closing surfaces. The result is a kaleidoscopic tunnel that provides an immersive experience upon entering.

The entry won the duo an A’Design Award.
